How Names Work
Why Some Vibes Return Fewer Names
Getting a short list isn't a bug — some vibes have stricter filters. Here's what's actually happening and how to get more results.
Why Some Vibes Return Fewer Names
You picked a vibe, hit Generate, and got back three names instead of ten. What's going on?
Short answer: different vibes have different filter thresholds. Some vibes are deliberately strict. Some are deliberately loose. The number of results you get reflects how many names made it through the filter — not how hard the engine tried.
The Strict Vibes
Quiet Luxury is the tightest vibe on the platform. It filters out anything that sounds aggressive, punny, overly technical, or trying too hard. It's looking for names with a certain understated weight — names that would feel at home on a shelf next to Aesop or Loro Piana. That's a very small window, and a lot of generated candidates don't fit through it.
Serious & Trusted has similar constraints. A name needs to sound like it could appear on a Fortune 500 earnings call or a law firm letterhead. Names that are clever, weird, or playful get filtered out — even if they're genuinely good names. The standard is narrow on purpose.
The Loose Vibes
Friendly Weird is intentionally permissive. The whole point is names that don't fit the mold, so the filter casts a wide net. You'll typically get more results here than with any other vibe.
Bold & Direct and Playful tend to return solid result counts too — there are more names that can plausibly fit those categories than ones that fit Quiet Luxury.
What to Do If You're Getting Too Few Results
1. Try "Surprise Me" — this is the maximum-yield option. The engine picks the vibe for you based on your idea, which lets it find the best matches regardless of style constraint.
2. Loosen your idea description — a very niche idea combined with a strict vibe creates a very small intersection. Broadening one of them helps.
3. Try a different vibe — if Quiet Luxury is giving you two names, try Bold & Direct. You might find something you like in a different lane.
This isn't a bug. A short list from a strict vibe means the engine is doing its job — it's just that fewer names made the cut. We'd rather give you three names you can actually use than ten that miss the mark.
